A curated dance project in collaboration with the Museum of Chinese in America showcasing emerging Asian choreographers and dancers in work-in-progress and new works. See how they, as immigrant artists, seek new paths and redefine home during this COVID-19 pandemic and period of rising anti-Asian violence.

We are excited to present these FREE shows in Manhattan Chinatown to celebrate the Mid Autumn Festival and the revitalization of NYC. These performances are supported by GREEN / ARTS LIVE NYC and NYSCA's Restart NY program.

8/7 NYCCC's Performance at Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival

New York Chinese Cultural Center will be performing at the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival again this year. Our performance will include different Chinese folk dances and our popular ribbon dance. We will also have a kung fu demonstration and a musical performance highlighting the guzheng.

8/3 NYCCC's Virtual Workshop for MOCA's Dragon Boat Festival

Location: Virtual

Taught by the martial arts master from the New York Chinese Cultural Center, this introductory workshop will introduce you to some basic stances, strikes, as well as a modified "Dragon" routine. A short Q&A will be followed by the practice at the end of the workshop. Register for the online workshop here

Virtual Chinese Dance Workshops with Chinatown YMCA

NYCCC is partnering with Chinatown YMCA to offer a beginner-level class introducing Chinese classical dance in celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month. Students will learn the basic techniques and dance phrases. View the Chinatown YMCA Event Flyer.

Bryant Park Picnic Performances

The Picnic Performances series will return to New York City's Bryant Park this summer with 25 live and in-person music, dance, and theatre events. The free series at the midtown park will be offered to a socially distanced audience, with performances live streamed as well. The season opens on June 9 with a four-night run of shows by musicians from the New York Philharmonic and closes on September 20 with a 100th anniversary celebration for The Town Hall.
